Some Helpful Information About WIZR
For this page I thought it would be helpful to just add some text points about how a Point To Point Transport Service operates and why it is different from a Taxi Service. These regulations are governed by the New South Wales Point To Point Transport Commissioner.
I will also add additional information over time to this page that I get questioned about from prospects, customers or other sources. Yes, a little like a frequently asked questions section.
Topics
What is WizR?
WizR is a Point To Point Human Transport service operating out of the Hills District of Sydney and taking passengers to other major destinations across the Sydney Metropolitan Area. It's like my own independent service for the Hills Shire. WHY? Because I like to create my own way of doing things and not to be under the thumb of a tech giant overseas. It's not that difficult to obtain a Point To Point Transport License (mine is: 451708), so long as you don't have a criminal record, have not been disqualified as a driver and obtain the appropriate insurances as a Professional Driver and for the car you drive.
Safety
Happy to accommodate a Free Meet and Greet at an appropriate time so that you get to meet me and I you before you make any booking with me. Safety is the most important thing and I understand taking a 45 mins or longer trip from a new business can be a little uncomfortable. I'm actually backing myself to provide a superior customer service standard compared to most operators.
Tenderly Care
Part of the reason for starting this business (morning, Monday to Friday) and adding it to my cargo van service (afternoon / evening) is to be available for my 80 year old mum. I've also had a father (Max) who had suffered with Alzheimer’s disease for 7 years and High Care in the last 18 months of his life. So, showing patience and awareness around the fragile is something I'm used to. I can provide this quality with the services I offer, in particular with medical appointment transfers. And others as a way to make people feel comfortable.
Pre-Bookings Are Essential Prior To Transport
This is a NSW government regulation and not a marketing upsell or "create a frenzy" ploy. I can't be hailed down or line up at a Taxi Rank as I'M NOT A TAXI BY LAW. However, in the future I may get a Combined License where I do both (Taxi and Point To Point /chauffeuring) this would be considered to extend or fill driving slots in between my main service. But for the most part I want to build out the Point To Point operation and add new drivers to WizR as well.
With a Taxi License the main issue is that I can't dictate where I will go by law under this license and so if I arrived at the Airport from the Hills District via my Private Chauffeur hat on and went to the Arrivals Taxi Rank with my Taxi hat on, I can't dictate where I'll end up after that. I can't knock back rides which might have me going to Palm Beach or Cronulla. Which is outside my main area or service region.
Bigger Picture
I want customers to be able to go to a platform and choose the drivers they want, just like people can choose the graphic designer they like on the many freelancer type platforms that exist. The platform would operate like my own coined concept "GIG-ATTAINMENT". Pay a subscription and any money made over it the drivers get to keep. Therefore eliminating commission based models or surge pricing that other tech based businesses use.
Payments
At the time of typing this I can be paid by (1) Stripe Payment Link, (2) Square Payment Terminal (In The Car) or beforehand, (3) Invoice and Direct Bank Transfer Details or a Link to the 2 credit card payment platforms mentioned above (Stripe/Square). So flexibility and choice is catered for. I am looking at all in 1 and specific software apps which might combine functions into 1 unit but for now these are the main methods of payment.
Experience
I've been driving Sydney Metropolitan roads for 17 years with my delivery business. This has meant going to places like Palm Beach in Northern Beaches, Engadine in the South East, Minto /Campbelltown/ Narellan in the South West and Richmond / Freemans Reach in North West.
The reason why Appointment Booking Software does not really work with smaller operators like me is because Sydney traffic can change not only day to day but hour to hour. This is why its best to have flexibility built in and be fluid rather than rigid. Any booking with me will have "Padding", which means time set aside before and after a booking so that the NEXT RIDE, can occur on time in most situations. Getting caught up in an over height truck situation in a tunnel can occur to ruin this but is usually not often.
Kia Sorento Size
Kia Sorento GT is the car I drive: This has 7 seat capacity which means when I've driving 6 passengers can fit.
Airport Mode: For airport trips the best configuration is for 4 x Adults with 4 x Large Luggage Bags and 4 x Carry On bags as well. This creates a uniformity that a Toyota Camry does not provide and why I went with this car. I want to provide a Direct Service To Airport and not a zig zag one like Airport Shuttles.
No Luggage Mode: This allows 6 people when the 3rd row is upright. The 3rd row is still best for smaller adults and children but can help split the fair if going to concerts, shows, events, horse races and the like.
